4th of July, almost forgot about that. Then I was talking to my Japanese friend about Napa Valley. He asked if Napa is a Native American Indian word. We got to talking about how most of the Natives in the Northern California/ San Francisco Bay area were killed by multiple reasons including hunted for sport by settlers. Then I realized it was 4th of July. Guess I'm a true expat now.

As you know I ride every day. But the alternative is... taking the train. So it's not really like I'm being so eco friendly. But here's the rub; I get paid a commutation fee for the train every time I go to work. So if I ride my bike I pocket the fee. This month I'm making 150 bucks for riding my bike. So there's motivation. The 'carbon footprint' I make by riding the train must be near nothing and bike is nothing.

I've been thinking a lot about my own consumption lately, and I've decided to start taking public transportation two or three times a month.

Thank you. You have some excellent pictures on your site, as well. I especially like: http://foto-rolero54.over-blog.com/article-froideur-du-metro-52154904.html. The black and white is very classy, I should do more of that myself.

In spite of what I might suggest in this picture. I honestly believe that we give too many tax breaks to oil companies and that U.S. citizens pay much less than a realistic price for gas. This, as I see it, is part of the problem with our crude oil/gasoline addiction. Funny how Republicans, who claim that the marketplace should decide the price of, well, healthcare for example, favor keeping the price of gasoline artificially low by giving tax breaks and letting the industry make its own rules.
